Camelittle is a animated children's show that was created by the students of Ohio University. It was created by Ashley Griffis and Ryan Etter, both wanted to have an experience with an animation before they graduated from OU, so they decided to pitch an animated show to AVW productions, the student run television group. Camelittle was picked up and began preproduction immediately. Sarah Queen was brought on as Co-Director, Head of illustrations and concept designs, as well as co-writer. Alison Meyers joined the project as Co-Producer and all around organization queen. That summer before school started they had a script, character designs, and a whole bunch of books on animation. That still didn't make up for the fact that none of them had ANY experience in animation or running an animated show.
A bunch of students were interested in joining in on the animation fun, and they began working immediately as soon as school started. The production lasted all year and was quite difficult at times. No one really knew if we were doing things correctly or not, but we all kept our faith and kept working.
In April 2011, Camelittle came in 2nd place at Ohio University's Creativity Expo in the Media Arts and Studies awards and 3rd place at Ohio University's Business School Entrepreneurship awards.
We finished our first 11 minute episode this past spring. It premiered on June 4, 2011 at a festival to help benefit the Make A Wish Foundation. Camelittle raised over $400 dollars for the charity and had a very successful premiere. The show is now continuing on by entering into festivals and working on the episode for next year. The very talented Katy Lewis is taking over as producer and Tiara Brown and Brynnie DeLange will co-directing.
Camelittle is a fun show that has been a great learning experience for so many students. We hope it will continue to be a learning experience for students at Ohio University as long as their are students who wish to work in animation.
